“Are you watching closely?”

Saturday, October 21st, 2006

Okay, I’ll admit that I’m not a fan of magic tricks. Pulling rabbits out of hats, doves out of sleeves and what nots. After watching The Prestige, it still hasn’t convinced me, but it has however change my look on the world of magicians. The Prestige is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a LONG time. Revolving around 2 magicians who constantly try to outdo each other which escalates into sabotage and ultimately, MURDER! The dark twisted story is so engaging, and I have to say that I find no faults with the acting quality. The movie itself is like a magic trick, with twist so bizarre and unimaginable it sort of leaves you hanging on to the edge of your seat. My advice? WATCH IT AS SOON AS YOU CAN!!!

    Abra cadabra.

    Good hunting.

The mandatory blog update

Thursday, October 19th, 2006

So, recently got an iPod nano 8GB for my birthday. Of which I only possess 50% ownership. Watched Taledega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby & The Devil Wears Prada on Wednesday. I would just like to say how much I love Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly. Her soft courteous voice being sheath to ice cold malice and ruthlessness. Simply loved it. Oh yea, Anne Hathaway was good too.

If this blog bores you its only because I lack stimulation to sarcasticly insult objects, people and such.

Right, anyway The Prestige opened yesterday and I’m psyched out to see it. C’mon, magic, drama, Scarlett Johanson. What’s not to like? Okay, scratch Scarlett. It still has magic and drama, and the potential murder of rival magicians, what’s not to love? Movie’s I’m also planning to watch include Stormbreaker(I’m only watching it because Ewan McGregor is in it, okay?), Charlotte’s Web, Open Season, a man eating another man, and maybe buy a Casablanca DVD.

I’m actually running out of things to say right now. Let me ponder a moment.

    Nope. Got nothing.

    Good hunting.

Edit: Okay, I’ve just thought of something.

So, you know what’s really ridiculous? Clowns in Armani suits, and Malaysian TV shows. Particularly of the reality-tv genre. So I think I’ve said a few words about the laxative of television, "Cornetto Perhaps Love", but I don’t think what I’ve said is adequate. Let me start off by saying just how incredibly unoriginal this is. The show reeks of Western ideas and influence and Malaysian tv decided to jump the bandwagon. Seriously, who watches this excrement? A show about single men trying to vye for the hearts of three women? Yea….. okay…… I believe there are only 2 plausible reasons someone would subject themselves to pimelight humiliation. Either the women have the body of Angelina Jolie, the heart of Mother Theresa, and the brains of some smart person, which I do not know (Okay, so the second and third reason isn’t really that important to most guys), OR they just want the attention. My money’s on the latter. Moving on the the women. Why the hell do they need a television program to help them find dates? Are they social skill really that insubstantial? Again, money on the spotlight. But I can honestly say that whoever ends up with who, they really deserve each other. Really.

Another thing about Malaysian tv is how unMalaysian it’s becoming. Apparently majority of the English speaking Malaysian community (or at least those who live in KL) have speak patterns that mimic that of those who grew up on the streets of Manhattan. Perhaps upper class society has a secret method of making themselves completely oblivious to the "la"s, "you ni"s, "I ni"s, "gua"s and other typical Malaysian slangs. And just so you know, I don’t have that technique la. Once upon a time, there used to be a comedy which was well, distinctly Malaysian, "Kopitiam". However that was before Bernice Chan and Jojo what’s-her-name entered the picture. After that, it was like watching a train wreck in action. Slowly. Morbid facination and sentimental attachment made me watch the ressurection for about… 3 episodes, before I had to ship my TV over to New York.

Then there was "Show Me the Money", another apparent brainchild of some producer I do not care to remember. Yes, well I don’t think I can say much. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. Motion pictures must be worth much more. Yet, those words describing show-which-shall-not-be-named falls oddly near the same target. Saddest thing to ever, and I use the term loosely, grace Malaysian terrestial tv.

Man, I miss kopitiam. When Lina Teoh was still in it. Good times… good times….

    Good hunting.

    Again.

Malaysia. Nation of the narcoleptics

Wednesday, October 4th, 2006

It seems to me that a majority of Malaysians have sleeping disorders, especially the teenage males. What made me come to this conclusion you ask? Well, it seems that "Zzz…" is now a popular response among the IM community in Malaysia. Playing DotA? Well, there’s bound to be at least one narcoleptic in the game. On MSN? No response to whatever the person on the other line is saying? Worry not, "Zzzz" is now the "in" thing to say when you’re brain dead.

Anyway… midterms are almost over. I just have math tomorrow, which is a considerable joke of a subject. And I feel like turning myself over to narcolepsy as well by having irregular sleep patterns and playing lots and lots of DotA.

    Good hunting.
